This is a early 19th century portrait of a New York Lady wearing a fur. It appears she is wearing a fur wrap. The oil on canvas portrait measures 26" 21 1/2". The portrait was purchased from the family from Woodstock New York. The name of the lady in the portrait is Mrs. Duenner. We have all the provenance and will advise more later. At this time, I am attributing this portrait to have been done by Sheldon Peck. It is very rare to see fur in paintings. This portrait has three areas where it has been cleaned and we will not restore this painting until our research is complete. The painting has been mounted in an antique hand painted frame. Again, our research has confirmed that this is a late Sheldon Peck (1797-1869)painting.
