The size of Cloisonne Plate: 8 3/8" Dia x 3/4" High. Beautiful Japanese Ando Cloisonne Plate. The plate is done in Musen(wireless) work with Moriage finish. It has wonderful Mountai Fuji design with forms of clouds in half of plate. The clouds as well as some mountain surface are done in Moriage enamel works which give you three dimentional feeling on plate. Ando Cloisonne call this work as "Emaiyu Shippo" which was invented by Ando Cloisonne. The plate came with Tomobako by Ando cloisonne company. The cover said in Japanese on right side, "Shippo Fugoku No Zu, Kazari Zara" ( Decorative plate with Mountain Fuji and landscape done in Cloisonne). Left side corner, "Ando Shippo Ten Zo"(Ando shippo shop made). with chop seal of Ando Cloisonne. There is gold and red seal of "Ando Cloisonne" on back of plate center. It came with Ando company brochure about "Emaiyu Shippo". Inside cover has Japanese writing which this plate was memory of 40th years compnay established and dedication of new building for the company name Shshin Koyo Co. It is dated Showa 58th(1983), August 28th. The condition of Cloisonne plate excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. There are many contemporary works of this type plate by Ando Cloisonne but this plate has exceptionally fine works because of Mountain Fuji's lighting angle and showing the great appearance of majestic Fujisan with clouds below. The Japanese brochure translation of "Emaiyu Shippo"
Today, there are two type of Shippo existing,and representing, one from Japan, Hon-Shippo such as Yusen-shippo(wired shippo). And other one is hand painting style French Shippo. Our company, Ando created is called, "Emaiyu Shippo" which we have created our own style shippo over French Shippo with our own glazing methods. We have applied transparent glazing, half transparent glazing, as well as non transparent glazing are applied and with many layers which came out just like oil painting colors effectiveness with soft painting like feeling. Mountain Fuji (Fuji-san) was being designated as World Cultural Heritage yesterday 5/1/13, and it will be registerd in UNESCO's Wolrd Cultural Heritage list in this June 2013.
