The size of Satsuma vase: 18 11/16" High x 11 1/4" Widest Dia. (47.5cm x 28.5 cm). This is most unusual and beautiful Kyoto Satsuma vase ever seen and it is very large size. The vase has two window design. One with most unique and very ogirinal works of Lotus and flowers design extended out of window and going over to other side window. There is a rooster design finely painted over real gold(Honkin) background. Otherside has Sansui(landscape) design. The lotus design are done in raised work(moriage type)which buit from fine line of clay as well as for the leaves. But these moriage works are much finer than you see around on Art Deco fashioned year made vases. Vase background has cobalt blue Satsuma works. The body of vase is done in fine crackle glazing Satsuma body. The condition of vase is very good except noting, one spot restoration on Kodai(foot rim) as you see in the additional photos No.2. There is another spot right next to foot rim has restoration as well. No hairline on the vase. There are many minor raised design works of Lotus leaf and flower petal has bees restored. A couple of patal point chipped which noted in the photos, these are only 2mm size. Since the finish of lotus design are delicately done with clay finish and painted with glazing originally. Over the years those spots has been deteriated. So, those spots has bee restored very well with resin type repair materials which are done excellently. Since this is unique and large Satsuma vase, the owner wanted to restore and preserve for future generation and keep as Japanese cultural asset. If you ever find this type work perfect condition, which I doubt. The cost of vase will run over $7,000.00-$8,000.00 at least. Please inquiry our price.
