The size of Daruma Netsuke: 1 5/8” Wide x 1 1/16” Deep x 1 7/16” High (42 mm x 28 mm x 37 mm). This is very finely carved Japanese Wooden Daruma Netsuke signed Shumin. (Hara) Shumin was Edo’s Netsuke artist from middle of Edo period. There is Daruma Netsuke similar to this one in Tokyo National Museum (Tohaku). The material of wood may be by Tsuge or Sakura wood. The Netsuke’s smaller Himo toshi has done with Jade ring. Larger Himotoshi with Ivory ring. There is Shumin carved signature. The condition of Netsuke excellent. No major Kizu neither crack or repair. Please see the detail from our photos. There is age worn as well as tiny ding seeing from photos. It came with nice Kiri wood box.. We have attached scanned copy from Netsuke book, “Netsuke Nyumon” by Ito Ryoichi. Hara Shumin was the student of Hara Shugetsu(Shizan) middle Edo era before 1800's.
