| The size of Vase: 12 3/4" High x 8" Dia(most wide in the center). It is one of most unusal Kyoto Satsuma by Nishida. Nishida's name is recorded in Kyoto Satsuma renown name. This is very first piece I have ever seen with this kind glazing other than in Satsuma(master pieces from the world's important collection) book at Kinkozan vase. The body of vase is made from stoneware type clay. It has fine dark purplish brown tone fine glazing whole body except lower part(1/5 of vase) where the ground effect showing in different tone glazing which makes very difficult to photograph because of reflection from every direction. Actual piece is much prettier than my photos. The neck of vase has Shippo and beehive design done very detail works by red, dark blue, lighter blue, white and gold. There is thunder pattern on the shoulder done with gold. Main body of vase with cloud effect painting with fine dotted gold decoration in three lavels. On them, there are fine decoration of Kiku(chrysanthemum) design as well asother flowers with gold, white, red, turqouise, and blue colors, plus a lots of gold fine works. There are 12 birds design are painted throughout the vase. There is shippo design band near end of vase with very carefully controled design. Right below that band decoration, there is marking of Nippon ‚jyoto Nishida Zo(made by). There are two Gold Marumon design at neck of vase, finely painted. The condition of vase excellent, no crack and no hailine. There is one tiny very old nick at the top rim vase in the size of 3mm which does not take away the beauty of this vase. The condition of gold is excellent over all. Little shoulder thunder pattern and other part of vase has little worn, but not much. Dating from Early Meiji(1868-1880). | |||||||||||||||
