| The size of Inro: 3 1/2" Long x 2" Wide x 7/8" Thick. It is most unusual Inro seen. It is made by Kiki wood(paulownia) which is very light. The inro cases are so precisely made and they fit perfect. The ojime made by agate. It has two different painting. One side with gold and Sumi painting of two flower Kiku(chrysanthemum) design with leaves over bamboo stick. Other side has two butterfly painted. One with gold and other one with silverly looking buttefly. Both side has signature and signed with Kaou(Japanese artist use this signature for their own instead of chop seal when they can not use because situation). The signature with butterfly is clearly written as, "Seisen Hogen Hitsu" (painted by Seisen Hogen). This is the name of Kano Osanobu (1796-1846)who was the 7th generation of Kano School. His full name was also used as Seisen Hogen Osanobu. Seisen Hogen was given the name and used when he became the Hogen ranking of priesthood. He did the copy of Hone Shonin(famous Japanese priest) scroll painting who established Jodo Shinshu. Many other painting about 550 items. His father's name was Kano Eishin. The artist name with Kiku is not clearely able to read, but it looks like Hogen Eishin, but not sure. Either case it has two artist works on this Kiri Inro which is most interesting one. The condition of Inro is excellent, other than little tiny wear spot. Middle case inside Tachiagari has three hairline as last photo showing only at Tachiagari(section to fit in) but other case and main body has no hairline. Otherwise, great shape.
