The size of Okimono: 7 1/2" Long x 3 1/2"W x 4" H. Japanese Okimono by Ito Tozan. The okimono made in the design of Cow and Boy. It is made by prominent Japanese Kyoto artist Ito Tozan III. The body of Okimono is same type material as Kyoto satsuma crackcle galzing earthen body. It is very nicely detailed work. The body of cow is done in rusty brown glazing. The boy is done in blue hakama, green kimono with Karakusa gold design with red vest. The mat on back of cow as well as the line on cow back rope done with gold colored. It came with Kiri wood Tomobako. It has written on outside, Ushi(cow), Okimono, Tozan Zo and his chop seal. It has also chop seal on the bottom of Okimono. Dating around 1940. The condition of Okimono excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. Ito Tozan III was born in Meiji 33rd(1900) as eldest son of Tozan II. His real name was Shinsuke He was graduated from Kyoto Art and Craft School. He learned pottery technique from from TozanII and leaned the painting from Oe Yoshiki. His work accept at Teiten(former Nitten)in Showa 4th. He became Tozan III in Showa 13th(1938). He was the member of Nitten Judge(Japan Art Exhibition). He died at age of 70 on Showa 45th(1970). |
