Beautiful Cup Set by 12th Kakiemon signed

The size of each Cup; 3 3/8" Dia x 2 1/2" High. Beautiful Japanese Porcelain Kakiemon Cup set of 4 pcs. The cups are made with finest quality porcelain from Japan available. They are all made by 12th Sakaida Kakiemon. Somenishiki which mean blue and white with enamel work. Each cup has two window of Sansui designs with flower design of Kiri design. They are fantascially fine painting done by Kakiemon 12th. In 12th Kakiemon kiln, almost everything works were done by himself rather than studio people assiting. It came with Kiri(paulownia) wood Tomobako with the cup set. The outside said, Saomenishiki, Jimon Sansui Ga(landscape design with pattern painted), Kumidashi Wan(which mean Kunidashi Cup). Kumidashi Chawan were used in Tea ceremondy to serve the hot water before Tea(green) ceremony for the guest at the tea ceremony. The set were orignally 5 pcs set. However, it does not taking away the work of beauty done by Kakiemon 12th. It is marked and signed 12th Kakiemon Saku(made) and his chop sealed inside lower left. We guarantee the cups were made by 12th Kakiemon. The condition of cups are excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. Please note reddish window color on set photo showing little darker than actual red. Dating from late Meiji to early Taisho. Similar design appear on the book of Kakiemon with covered bowl, but design of window done in Sho Chiku Bai. Each cups were individually signed by Kakiemon's hand writing. The decoration of cups are all handpainted. Dating around 1930 after 12th Kakiemon splited with Obaka Kakiemon Goshi Kaisha. Obata Kakiemon Kaisha were focustin more items produced with Uzufuku(swirl Fuku) marking, but Kakiemon's works after he splited with Obata has Kakiemon-saku writing rather than swirl Fuku marking.

Sakaida Kakiemon 12th(1878-1963). He was born as the son of 11th Kakiemon. After Edo Bakufu government was demolished and all of Daimyo clan changed into private. The Japanese worlkd were changing so rapibly. He has inherited the will of 11th Kakiemon who wanted to rebuild Kakiemon Kiln. He later had help by Obata Hideyoshi for financial assistance for his company. However, they were splited in 1919 because they did not agree each other. In 1928, Kakiemon 12th splited from Obata and he persued his own skill and business without Obata help. 12th Kakiemon used Kakiemon Saku signture rather than swirl Fuku marking. In 1953(showa 27th) he was designated as Intagiable Cultural Asset in Japan. In 1954, he and his son has recreated Nigoshide(milky) finishe porcelain which were used made Kakiemon so famous in Genroku period. His works are sought by world Kakiemon collectors. Now, the 14th Kakiemon.
