| The size of Covered Bowl: 5" Dia x 3 3/4" High. Fine Kyoto Satsuma Covered Bowl by Taizan. The covered bowl is made by Kyoto Satsuma, actually, Awata Yaki which is origin of Kyoto Satsuma in Kyoto. Awata Yaki was started by first Taizan (Takahashi Tokuro) in 1680 early Edo period. This covered bowl was made by Taizan in late Edo. It probablly made by Taizan Yohei 7th or 8th generation around early to mid 19th century late Edo. The covered bowl was made with fine crackle glacing Satsuma body. It has pretty Kiku design. It came with Tomobako. There is seal of Awata between cover and bottom box. The side of box said, "Awata Yaki, Kashi Ire(sweet condiments holder)" There is another chop seal inside cover with letter of "Taizan" in the center. The condition of covered bowl excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. The gold on knob has little worn. The bottom bowl has age color. It is rare to have Tomobako from Edo piece. | |||||||||||||||
