A very attractive stele intact and in high relief, capturing the moment when the Hindu god, Vishnu reveals himself in the guise of his ferocious half-lion, half-man form, known as Narasimha, to vanquish the asura king, Hiranyakashipu. Central India, c. 10th.-12th. century AD.

As Hiranyakashipu moves to kill him (Vishnu), Vishnu, in the form of Narasimha, emerges from a pillar and destroys Hiranyakashipu...

A stunning oversized and very elaborate Tibetan silver ewer with gilt brass fittings and decorations, 19th. century AD.

The lavish piece probably a commission for a very wealthy family or a temple. The ewer of fairly high grade hammered silver with elaborate mounts and scroll-work in gilt brass and silver. On the belly two different brass mounts in high relief on one side an elephant monster and on the other side a demon mask with it's tunque out...

An exceptionally large and attractive Linga / Lingam, depicting the head of Shiva, Gupta period, Madhya Pradesh, 4th.-5th. century AD.

The face of the Hindu god Shiva emerges from this linga, the emblem through which he is most commonly worshiped. Most lingas are non-figural, their abstracted phallic shape alluding to Shiva’s transcendent power and generative energy. Here, Shiva is also represented in anthropomorphic form, manifesting himself to devotees...

The hip-length coat of mail made of riveted rings, with a short back slit and long sleeves. Three fish-shaped buckles are riveted onto the two large, integrated plates in the chest area. Two narrower plates attached at each of the sides, followed by three rows of overlapping discs on the back. The outside of the right breastplate bearing a long inscription in Hindi, the inside bears a shorter in Devangari, on the left an inscription in arabic.

Size: ca. 80 cm...

Extremely rare figure of Buddha in Gilt Silver of a great Kandyan style, Sri Lanka, Kandy district, 18th.-19th. century.

Standing on a modern teak base with his right hand raised in abhaya mudra. Wearing a sanghati draped over his left shoulder with finely carved folds...

A massive corner stone sculpture carved in greyish schist, Gandhara, c. 400-600 AD.

Interesting Pilaster from a corner with two reliefs, on it, candelabra with Buddha and bodhisattva and lying bulls on both sides at the top.

Size: c. 51 cm. tall and c. 22-23 cm. wide. Verry deep as well and almost triangular in shape.

Condition: F-VF, basically intact and almost fully covered with sandy encrustations - uncleaned...

A lovely detailed brass figure of Ganesha. South-Indian, perhaps Tamil Nadu, 17th.-18th. century.

He is standing on a round lotus base on stout legs and with a high headdress, 4 arms with attributes, pot belly and pecular crescentic ears.

Size: 20 cm. tall. and 14 cm. wide, weiging ca. 950 grams.

A high quality large bronze figure of the seated Indra, Nepal, c. 19th. century.

A artfully modelled figure. Normally this fine type is from around 13 cm. to max 21 cm. - our figure is no less than 27 cm. and thus also very broad and heavy for it's type!

The bronze with semiprecious stone inlays depicting the deity seated in maharajalilasana (royal ease), dressed in a dhoti, adorned with jewels and a crown. It's seated on a modern wooden base as usual with this type.

Architectorial carving of a temple alter, Northern India / Gandhara, early-mid 1st. millenium AD.

A very artful carving and quite decorative as well, depicting a building housing an alter and flanked by large collumns. The back uncarved and it would have been carved into a rock wall.

Finely mounted, floating on a black metal base.

Size: 35 cm. tall, incl. the mounting, 24 cm. for the temple alone. 16 cm. deep and 20 cm. wide.

A very beautiful carved bone figure of Buddha, Sri Lanka, Kandy district, 19th. century.

Standing on a modern circular wooden base with his right hand raised in abhaya mudra and his left arm at the shoulder. Wearing a sanghati draped over his left shoulder and finely pleated in undulating folds. His serene face with downcast eyes, with long pierced earlobes and his hair surmounted by a flame-shaped finial.

Height: 13 cm. including the charming base, 10,8 cm. alone.

A lovely and rare pottery bowl or bassin depicting domesticated cheetahs or leopards, Indus Valley, probably Nal culture, 3rd. millenium BC.

The vessel finely decorated overall with three felines with spotted furs, and chained to small symbolic trees. Larger trees as spacers and a band of Ibexes above. Concenthric decoration near the wide rim, all in brown on a beige ground.

Size: 16 cm. wide and 12,2 cm. tall with thick walls.

Condition: Choice, good very nice...

A high quality massive heavy bronze figure of a seated deity, probably Sri Devi / Lakshmi, holding implements and tall headdress and a breast band around her sizable attributes, South Indian, perhaps Tamil Nadu, c. 17th.-18th. century or earlier.

Our best bronze figure from this collection with unusually crisp and deligate engravings on all parts of the surface.

Size: c. 90 mm. tall and weighing a hefty 271 grams.

An exceptionally large and heavy bronze figure of Radha, Wife of Krishna, VAishnava Devotional og Bhakti traditions of Hinduism, 16th.-17th. century AD.

Very attractive figure of solid bronze with no core, Radha is in a standing posture with her arms, protruding round breasts, semi-nude addorned with jevellery.

Height 27 cm. excl. the wooden base. The weight is more than 3 kilograms!

A lovely smaller but massive heavy bronze figure of a seated deity, probably Sri Devi / Lakshmi, holding implements and tall headdress and a breast band around her sizable attributes, South Indian, perhaps Tamil Nadu, c. 17th.-18th. century or earlier.

Size: 86 mm. tall and weighing a hefty 342 grams.

Condition: Choice Very fine, lovely oold patina, with a fine chestnut brown colour from high copper content.
