Superb ancient redware pottery vessel with elegant twin handled shape. The two handles were applied after the pot was turned on the wheel.

Size: 17-18 cm. high.

Condition: Choice, a very tiny hairline on one of the handles, othervise as made, with beautiful find-patina, never cleaned!

FINE AND RARE INTACT ROMAN OIL LAMP WITH AN EROTIC MOTIF, 1ST.-2ND. CENTURY AD.

A good example of the early Roman style of lamps with erotic or sexual motifs. In this case a couiple is laying on a high bed with flowing bedsheets, doing it sideways and at the same time also using their hands.

This lamp is stamped in the bottom with the 'foot' makers mark which was a large scale producing workshop in central Rome, known for high quality craftmanship and fine red ware items...
