Massive Egypt funerary amethyst scarab, human head!
Extremely rare, huge scarab of amethyst, dating to the 18th.-19th. dynasty of Egypt (1549 – 1186 BC).

The whole top of the scrarab is shaped as the head of RA in his human form. His forehead is also the backend of the beetle.

Size: Huge for the type, the largest amethyst scarab we've ever seen. It's c. 18-19 mm. wide, c. 12 mm. thick and c. 26 mm. long. The weight is 8.30 grams - a large ancient stone, normally amethyst scarabs are only c. 10-13 mm.!

This scarab is an amulet and most possibly a hearth scarab or funerary scarab.

Condition: Superb! Some even wear and corrosion, but completely intact.

Ex Egeskov Collection.
