A marvelous banded agate stone seal, dating to the Neo-Assyrian Empire. The Neo-Assyrian Empire was an empire in Mesopotamian history which began in 934 BC and ended in 609 BC.During this period, Assyria assumed a position as the most powerful nation on earth. This scaraboid seal was carved in an extremely beautyful banded agate and shows a winged horse, a typical motive for this period. Very rarely seen as a scaraboid, imitating contemporary Egypt!
