An important yellow calchedony cylinder seal, dating to c. 800-600 BC. as the likely period of manifacture.
The seal is large and quite massive for it's fine type and thus rare and remarkable!
A hunting scene, where an archer on horseback (likely the great king) is hunting a bird with a bow, the scene also includes star and crescent moon.
cf: BM. Catalogue V, 48 BM WA 89410
Size: 30 mm. high and 13-14 mm. thick, so quite large.
Condition: A few minor chips, but in excellent condition, with a top-quality stone and no wear, very sharp, even sharp than the pictured impression in wax indicates. A top seal!
