A good roman marble head of a woman, 1st.-3rd. c. AD
A rare and beautyful Roman marble sulpture, 1st.-3rd. century AD.

A sculptural bust, carved in white marble of a woman, possibly a patrician lady, with an elaborate hairstyle, mounted to a stone plint.

Size: 170 mm, with the head alone c. 105 mm. high and massive.

Provenance: Johan Dæhlfeldt Estate Collection - 40 years of collecting antiquities.

Dælfeldt bought this head at the Kunsthallen antiquities auction 3051/lot 523 (c. 1985), their ticket in the bottom. Originally it came from the much older Gazlantep collection 1963!
