Fine Greek marble alabastron vessel, 6th.-4nd. cent. BC

A rare and classic greek marble alabastron, dating 6th.-4th. century AD.

Large and heavy perfume vessel of carved stone.

The elongated body on a rounded base, tapering to sloping shoulders slightly offset from the cylindrical neck, with a disk rim, and a centering point on the underside. Interestingly the alabastron is inscribed in antiquity with the word or letters KIN.

Exceptional antiquity, very attractive with a fine ancient surface.

Size:119 mm. tall and 48 mm. wide.

Condition: Choice, a rough rim, but no serious damage and no repairs.

Ex. French Private Collection
