A very rare pre columbian wooden sceptre in the form of a ritual knife, Chancay, 1100-1400 AD.

A very attractive long knife with beautyful ancient patina. The knife has a small monkey figurine mounted on top.

The blade it self is engraved with a mysterious sign and the sign of a bird further down the blade (see the enlargement).

It was made in hardwood, and would have been able to penetrate and cut, though it was likely used as an offer piece in buriel.

Size: 265 mm.

Provenance: Jan Pelle Collection.
