Rare German Westerwald stoneware jar with wild boar!!
$595.00

A very rare German stoneware jar or crock, dating to the 1700s (c. mid 18th. century AD).

Very large and intact jar of the earliest type of figural jars in German Westerwald tradition, here with a carved and glazed depiction of a wild boar attacking on it's hind legs.

The finest of it's type we've ever had in stock, with an extremely artful depiction of the boar.

Size: A massive jar c. 245 mm. high and 220 mm. wide across the handles.

Condition: Superb, unrepaired and with no chips, but a few flaws from the making.
