A very rare and spectacular Mesopotamian / Elamite bronze mace head, late 3rd.-early 2nd. millenium BC

With prominent vertical rows of spikes, divided in two panels, with dividing cord-like bands and the image of three snakes on the upperpart of the mace.

Size: 178 mm. long

Condition: Choice!, with a casting flaw at one side and a few chips to a couple of spikes.

A very impressive zoomorphic mace head, perhaps the rarest, we've ever handled.

Provenance: Old Danish private Collection (Hans Henningsen), bought in the 1980s in London.
