HIGH QUALITY DANISH NEOLITHIC SILEX AXE, DATING TO THE TIME OF THE GREAT BURIEL MOUNTS, mid 4TH. MILLENIUM BC
The type is of the thin-butted type of axes popular around 3500 BC.
This specimen is not as large as they can be but still a large and massive axe, 220 mm. long and nearly 80-85 mm. wide.
The axe weighs ca. 1000 grams. The fine symethri with visible stiches and excellent knapping details makes this axe especially attractive. Add to this, the amazing deep and even red patina (so-called Marsh patina after pieces found in marshes and used for offerings). Also note the perfect butt and the fine edge, almost mint condition.
