A rare male attendant pottery figure, China, Ming Dynasty, 1369-1644 AD
This figure comes from a very rare group of 'Edged' Tomb pottery figures.
The shape of the figures are sort of 'edged' or flat in the design and they are on a pair of rather peculiar bases, that we haven't seen before. They are clad in fine two-colour blue-glazed robes. The figure - a male - wears a high black hat and carries a book in his hand.
Size: Large and massive figure measuring c. 35 cm. in height.
Condition: Superb! Wonderful glossy glaze and exceptional details preserved in pigment.
