A very high quality dagger, from the Greater Persian area, ca. 1000 BC.
The dagger is a rarer variant of the Ear-pommel daggers and swords, normally assigned to Luristan. This dagger is slightly different in the details and was possible made in the North-Eastern parts of Persia.
The hilt is massive and of solid bronze. The blade is very sound and rather thick.
Size: Nearly 34 cm. and thus almost a short sword as ancient swords were considerably smaller in size than later period swords.
Condition: Pristine, a terrific condition, not a hint of corrosion, superb metal, almost black patina with some uncleaned earthern encrustations.
Ex. Johan Dæhnfeldt Estate Collection (2013).
