AN ATTRACTIVE BRONZE SHORT SWORDE WITH A SHORT TANG FOR MOUNTING IT TO THE HANDLE, WESTERN ASIA, AREA OF TURKMENISTAN/UZBEKISTAN CA. 1200-800 BC.
A late and attractive tanged bronze sword with a medium size tang and a prominent mid-rib, triangular blade. Interestingly, the blade was made with thick point for piercing armor. A rare feature in antiquity but typical for medieval daggers and swords, to prevent the weapon from breaking on impact.
Size: 34-35 cm.
Condition: Choice. Very good metal with a wonderful green patina and some earthern encrustations. A bend in the edge of the blade at the base.
Ex. Dæhnfeldt Collection, bought in the 1970s-1990s.
