RARE SUMERIAN SERPENTINE FIGURE OF A BEAR A rare Sumerian black stone, possible Serpentine amulet, dating to the 3rd. millenium BC. The amulet is shaped as a bear or a lion. Massive amulet measuring 34 mm. in height and weighing some 32-33 grams. Very well carved and beautyful, with holes to take inlays of gemstone or glass now lost. Condition: Superb! Provenance: Ex Oliver Antique. Ex Swedish private collection - purchased during the 1950s at Viktoria Lindströms Antikhandel, Stockholm. Her business card in the collection together with notes.
