Japanese hardwood hand carved statue of a "TANUKI," or BADGER, with his left paw raised above his very expressive face and ears! This sculpture (which is very Shibui) has a wonderful solid, artsy, substantial "feel." Height is 9 inches or 23 cms. x 8.25 inches or 21 cms at the base. Condition, there are some knicks on the left sleeve and some indentations on the back which is "unfinished." Circa 1870-1900.

Chinese silver and gold inlay bronze animal figure (Ram) standing foursquare with head raised, eyes bulging, ears alert and horns outstretched! Finely cast with a collar encircling the neck with scrolls decorating the sides and haunches, the long faceted tail also inlaid. All decorated with gold and silver inlay over the entire body in contrast to the pale brownish-green patina. Purchased at Sotheby's in NYC, Lot # 225, pg. 187 from the J.T. TAI & Co. Sale on 22 March, 2011.

Chinese Famille Juane porcelain VASE with peony flower decoration, TABLE LAMP with a brass cluster head light fixture which slides a total of 5 inches up and down. The total height of the lamp is 28.5 inches to a low of 22.5 inches. The height of the vase is 11.5 inches and the sides are 5.75" x 5.75". The lamp shade is 14 3/8" in height and has a diameter of 17" at the bottom. There is a switch on the cord. Condition is good; the vase has not been restored or chipped or cracked...

A humorous depiction of the Japanese ZEN Buddhist priest who meditated in China in the mountains for 7 years, till he lost the use of his legs. Seal marked by artist (see enlargement #4) The ends of the scroll are ivory and there is the original kiri wood box. Condition, some slight wrinkles which are primarily in the border, with one in the moon behind Dharuma. The colors are vibrant. Circa, 1880-1890's. Dimensions of the scroll are 70.5" x 19" and the painting itself are 34" x 14".

12" x 2.5" "Ishi-zara" meaning stoneware in Japanese,with a pinkish-buff beige glaze. Probably from a Seto area kiln, used originally for serving food. Five different size bottoms of Thailand stonewear covered BOXES from Sawankhalok kilns, 15th-16th Century. 4 of the 5 pieces have an underglaze blue decoration, one(the largest piece with a 2.5 inch (6.35 cms.)diameter has a blue ring around the top and bottom. The smallest has a diameter of only 1.5 inches or 3.8 cms. Condition varies from excellent for the largest and second largest piece to fair with rim chips on all three of the smallest diameter items.

Japanese cast iron TEA KETTLE "Tetsubin" with a dimpled exterior design and an acorn filial on the lid. The handle does not move too much either way. From Sawankhalok, Thailand's ancient city's kilns, 3 mismatched stonewear bottoms(2) and top (1) decorated in underglaze brushed iron. The largest piece is a top (with a modern wire attached to hang on a wall) which has a diameter of 4.75 inches. Condition is excellent with no chips. The two smaller bottoms to boxes are ribbed with slight decoration on the outside; with dimensions of 3.25 and 3.175 inches. There are chips on both bottoms. Circa: 15-16th Century.

Chinese stonewear Geyaoo TEA BOWL, the dark stonewear body is covered overall with a thick batter-like pale blue-gray glaze marked with both broad and fine crackle with the "golden thread and iron wire." Condition: There are four (4) match head size spots inside the cavetto where there is a loss of glaze and other numerous spots both inside and outside where there are glaze bursts. The bowl appears to be unbroken and unrestored...
