Chinese pottery DING and Cover with a seven character inscription are from the "Collection of Monsieur Georges Halphen," which was auctioned at Christies in Paris, November 20, 2003, Lot # 454, page 33. A "Certificat pour un bien cultural" # 017925 or COA was issued by the French Minstry of Culture that allows this Ding to be legally shipped back to Europe without any VAT taxes. One Complete set (5 bowls and lids ) of Japanese orange LACQUER BOWLS and LIDS. The covers are beautifully painted in gold with peony flowers and leaves with a single Shibui butterfly. There are some small chips on the edges of some of the bowls and lids, but the condition is very good overall. Suitable for use as a "miso soup" bowl or as a decorative accent. Circa 1900-1920. Height with lid is 3.5" and diameter is 4.5 inches.

Korean 10-sided "HONEY POT" or "seokganju" or "oja" are the most uniquely 'Korean' of pots. This particular example (#3 of 5) is larger than the other three and is darker in color. of pear form with long cylindrical neck and carefully painted in medium and darker strokes of underglaze cobalt of a powerful dragon striding through the clouds chasing the flaming pearl! The bottle also applied with a transparent soft glaze of blue cast. There is also a "kiln or artist's mark?" just behind the dragon's head. This is possibly from the royal Bunwon Kilns which stopped in 1883 when the royalty withdrew their support of these kilns...

A refreshing IMARI BOWL from Japan with two cracks which have been repaired which is somewhat visible. The central motif is a potted flowering bonsai plant, with three cartouches of a goose inside an enclosure with bamboo and other trees. One goose or perhaps a fat duck is upended downwards in the water. These same cartouches are repeated 3 times on the outside of this childlike bowl. Beautiful wave design in underglaze blue inside/out framing the ducks. circa 1910-1920...

Persian (IRAN) solid COPPER TEA JAR in baluster form with a removable lid and a chain and hook to attach to a wooden camel saddle. Used by the nomadic tribes in Iran. Chinese celadon, STEM CUP, MING Dynasty with provenance. The long tapering stem with raised bands along its length with a wide bowl cup and a foliated flaring rim covered with a thick crackled dark olive green glaze. Height is 5 inches (12.7 cms) and width is 4.5 inches (11.5 cns.) There is an orange number applied inside the stem (see picture) "C 278" from the Arthur M. Sackler Collections.
