Japanese wooden ABACUS extremely well constructed with 27 bamboo rods and 164 wooden beads to do the calculations! All in a sturdy, yet artful black wooden frame. These abacus are great gifts for the engineer or mathematician in your family! Becoming more and more difficult to find! Condition is perfect....very functional. Length is 15.25 inches (39 cms.) and width is 2.75 inches (7 cms.) Circa: Taisho era, 1910-1920's.

Very Shibui Japanese cast-iron body Tetsubin TEA KETTLE with a Bronze Lid and a Plum Blossom knob! The inside of the top is signed in four Kanji (characters) and says in part, "Kin-Se-Do." The handle is a wonderfully scalloped shape. Condition is fine. The dimensions are height 9 inches, 22.9 cms. and diameter is 7.5 inches or 19cms. Circa 1860-1890.

Japanese Bronze ELEPHANT sculpture skillfully depicted with a raised trunk, open mouth and spread ears, with a wooden base. The ivory tusks have been broken and repaired, otherwise the condition is good. The artist's name, "Mitsumoto" is incised on the foot (see enlargement#6)_Circa: Meiji era, 1880-1900. Dimensions are 13 inches in length and 10.5 inches in height.

Korean faceted (11 sides) "Honey" POT with matching cover are the most uniquely "Korean" of pots! Also know as "seoganju" or "oja" in Japanese. Two pages from an old Japanese Book,professionally joined and hinged in Japan, depicts a "Matsuri," of end of the summer party. Vibrant and alive with action, from the grandpa and bald grandma through the middle aged to the young, vibrant and babies embraced...this scene comes alive! The artist was "Matsuri," and the book was published in 1908. Condition is excellent, no foxing, or tears or repairs. Dimensions are 10.5" x 7.5".

Japanese hand carved wooden SCULPTURE of a large RABBIT sitting on it's haunches. Well modeled wiht a beautiful light slightly "shellacked," patina! Left ear was broken and has been repaired, but the crack is hardly noticeable. Condition is good. Circa: Taisho. PERSIAN (Iran) Hand Made COPPERWARE VESSEL which was probably originally used to cook rice over a wooden fire. No decoration other than where the pieces of metal were joined. Nice shape, nice patina. Dimensions are 5 1/8 inches in diameter at the rim (13 cms.) and a 7" diameter at the bottom (17.8 cms.) and a height of 3.25 inches or 8.5 cms. Circa: early 1900's.
