A humorous depiction of the Japanese ZEN Buddhist priest who meditated in China in the mountains for 7 years, till he lost the use of his legs. Seal marked by artist (see enlargement #4) The ends of the scroll are ivory and there is the original kiri wood box. Condition, some slight wrinkles which are primarily in the border, with one in the moon behind Dharuma. The colors are vibrant. Circa, 1880-1890's. Dimensions of the scroll are 70.5" x 19" and the painting itself are 34" x 14".

From Sawankhalok, Thailand's ancient city's kilns, 3 mismatched stonewear bottoms(2) and top (1) decorated in underglaze brushed iron. The largest piece is a top (with a modern wire attached to hang on a wall) which has a diameter of 4.75 inches. Condition is excellent with no chips. The two smaller bottoms to boxes are ribbed with slight decoration on the outside; with dimensions of 3.25 and 3.175 inches. There are chips on both bottoms. Circa: 15-16th Century.

Chinese stonewear (tea) BOWL with black Cizhou glaze applied thickly over the finely potted cup with a slightly everted rim. Song Dynasty. There are some "losses" as expected with some scratching on both the inside and outside of the cup. No apparent chips cracks or restorations. Diameter is 4.75 inches (12.2 cms) and height is 2 7/8 of an inch or (7.4 cms.) Note: the "red" color in the photographs are a reflection!

Japanese white porcelain Mandarin Duck a symbol of marital fidelity which were given as pairs for wedding presents in China because the birds pair for life! Well modeled and wonderfully detailed, this would make a perfect gift for a newly wed or newly engaged person. Two Seto-ware (ORIBE) earthenware Japanese TSUITEKI (Waterdroppers) of CATS. Two (one standing with the paw in the air and a bell around it's neck and another one sitting on all four paws, are dated 1740-1790 or Mid-Edo Era. Conditon is generally good. Some pitting, and some "kami-kizu," or "Kiln-errors." Dimensions of all are about 3" x 2". Circa: 18th Century. EDO era.

A refreshing IMARI BOWL from Japan with two cracks which have been repaired which is somewhat visible. The central motif is a potted flowering bonsai plant, with three cartouches of a goose inside an enclosure with bamboo and other trees. One goose or perhaps a fat duck is upended downwards in the water. These same cartouches are repeated 3 times on the outside of this childlike bowl. Beautiful wave design in underglaze blue inside/out framing the ducks. circa 1910-1920...

A portable opium scale with a silver weight pan, and a weight and metal inlayed calibrated marks along the length of the rod. Some damage to pan and threads connecting pan to measuring rod. Chinese celadon, STEM CUP, MING Dynasty with provenance. The long tapering stem with raised bands along its length with a wide bowl cup and a foliated flaring rim covered with a thick crackled dark olive green glaze. Height is 5 inches (12.7 cms) and width is 4.5 inches (11.5 cns.) There is an orange number applied inside the stem (see picture) "C 278" from the Arthur M. Sackler Collections.
