Chinese celadon, STEM CUP, MING Dynasty with provenance. The long tapering stem with raised bands along its length with a wide bowl cup and a foliated flaring rim covered with a thick crackled dark olive green glaze. Height is 5 inches (12.7 cms) and width is 4.5 inches (11.5 cns.) There is an orange number applied inside the stem (see picture) "C 278" from the Arthur M. Sackler Collections. Bronze (spun) Japanese CANDLE STAND from a Buddhist temple,with a design based on Chinese archaic designs; but the fine filigree work and quality of overall casting clearly indicates early 19th century Japanese craftsmanship! Very attractive patina! Circa: Late Edo period, 1820-40. Height is 18 inches (45.7 cms.) and the diameter at the base is 6 inches or 15.2 cms. Condition is good.

PAIR of Chinese TANG Dynasty SANCAI glazed pottery CUPS with provenance. One cup is glazed on the inside (sancai) and the other on the outside (green only.) There is some degradation on the inside cavetto of the sancai cup otherwise in good condition. No chips or cracks. Desaccensioned from the Ulricehamn Museum in Sweden, paart of the Tectus Collection and purchased at SOtheby's in Paris on Dec 18, 2008. Dimensions are 1 inch in height (2.54 cms) and 2 inches in width or 5 cms.

Two pages from a book published in Japan in 1908 were skillfully joined and hinged in Tokyo,Japan. The print depicts a rather dark skinned Sumo wrestler tangled up with his opponent whose face is obscured. Off to the side is a Kabuki-like actor with a mask (an archer) who is prodding the wrestlers. Very animated. The artist's name is "Kimustu." Condition is good, no foxing. Dimensions are 10.25" x 7.5" Circa: 1908. Matting and framing are available for a gift.
