Two large SHARDS from a pot in PAGAN, Burma both appearing to be from the same vessel. They have a 5 banded cross pattern perhaps made with a wooden paddle. They have a gray body with a terracotta finish to both sides. The third piece is the bottom of a "kendi," Dimensions are 6" x 3" and 7.75" x 3" (15.24 x 7.6 cms.) for the two pot shards and 2 3/8" x 1 1/2" (6.1 x 3.8 cms) for the third shard. They were all found outside of the "old city" walls near the Dhamma-Yazika...

Chinese porcelain blue (cobalt) monochrome glazed "tear-drop" elongated VASE of ovoid form and a tall slender tapering neck covered in a thick blue glaze. Ming 17th Century. The vase is of a dark rich, natural cobalt blue color thinning to a mushroom colored rim. The condition is good, minor glaze scratches, however, the neck is slightly misshaped. The heavily potted deep bowl on short ring foot, decorated in underglaze blue with two sprays of citrine, the well decorated with an auspicious character, "fuku" or "Good Luck" contained within a double ringed roundrel. Beautifully modeled, color is a slightly bluish-cream off white. Burmese Lacquer TEA STORAGE JAR with lid, with a design motif of "ku-nan-kan-byat" or Yunnan semicircle design and Zodiac animals in the rosettes. Condition is worn, there are spots were the orange-red lacquer has been rubbed off with constant handling, and the black lacquer underneath is exposed. Japanese CHAIRE or (Tea storage container) in porcelain with a dark brown glaze and yellowish highlights the thick glaze ending neatly above the foot with a "swirl" in the base's biscuit! Topped with an ivory cap (and gold foil) all in a faded silk orange and gold bag in a kiriwood box with an inscription and orange seal mark. Height 3.5 inches (9 cms.) Condition is perfect.
