Large, 22.5" (57cms.)in height, CHINESE, VASE in baluster form. The elongated body and neck covered with a glaze of sang-de-boeuf dripping with iridescent purple, thinning to a cream tone to the edges of the flaring rim. Brown wash on the base where there is a small firing crack that does not show through on the inside. No other damage of any kind. Ships in a more than 100yr. old kiri-wood case. Chinese porcelain IMPERIAL YELLOW MING DISH with six character Zhengde underglaze blue mark in double circles and of the period. ( 1506-1521) The low rounded sides rising from a wedge shaped foot to an everted rim, applied overall with a translucent glaze of rich egg-yolk color leaving the slightly convex base in white. Diameter is 8 1/8 inches or 20.5 cm. Condition report available on request; no chips or fritting or restorations, some hairlines. Purchased in London at Sothebys.
