Japanese 2 Panel screen, Suiboku-gwa (literally water & black ink) painting of a Plum Tree in early bloom in Febuary with a Sparrow about to land! This type of painting derived it's inspiration from the Zen doctrine of Buddhism. The background is gold leaf laid down overlapping paper squares, mounted on a wooden lattice frame. Condition: There is some wear. There are some indentations, and one area where the edge of the paper should be glued because the edge is starting to lift up...

A refreshing IMARI BOWL from Japan with two cracks which have been repaired which is somewhat visible. The central motif is a potted flowering bonsai plant, with three cartouches of a goose inside an enclosure with bamboo and other trees. One goose or perhaps a fat duck is upended downwards in the water. These same cartouches are repeated 3 times on the outside of this childlike bowl. Beautiful wave design in underglaze blue inside/out framing the ducks. circa 1910-1920...

Japanese porcelain COSEMTICS BOX with matching LID in a double gourd form and celadon glaze. Very Shibui, very finely potted. Height is 2.5 inches with a diameter of 1.33 inches. Condition is good, except for two tiny rim chips on the inside rim of the bottom portion. Rare, unusual large (16" in height x 15 inch diameter)Japanese WOOD and LACQUER DHARUMA HEAD BUDDHIST SCULPTURE. This was made as a MOLD for making large paper mache Dharuma heads. Japanese earthenware WHISTLE (that works) from SETO in the form of a deity with bulging eyes, long beard and pot belly partially covered with a fan. This was apparently in use in the early 19th C. as an alarm while out walking at night or perhaps just for children to enjoy in the daytime! There are some losses at the back on the right side which are shown in the pictures. Well modeled, functional and unique! Dimensions are 2 3/8 of an inch (6 cms) x 1 5/8 " or 4.2 cms. 1800 - 1868, Edo.
