This beautifully executed small porcelain dish was made as a presentation piece for a temple in Japan. It shows a Bodhisattvas meditating under a pine tree. In addition to blue and white, there is green and a lacquer red color as well. The foliated rim is in a dark brown wash. There is also a spurious Chinese six character reign for Wan Li (Ming Dynasty) 1573-1619. All this within a single blue circle (not double as in Chinese ceramics.) Taisho era, circa 1920-1939. Diameter = 4.75 inches...

Japanese VASE in square form with a circular top and butterflies. There are alternating dragons and Phoenix birds & peony flowers on the side panels on an orange background with some gold enamel! There is a four character underglaze mark on the bottom. This vase was probably used for a single flower. Condition is perfect. Height is 4 inches (10 cms.) and width is 3.25 inches or (8.3 cms.) There is some slight damage, a repair to the upper inside rim (see photo #2), a repair to the body and a repair to the base. A Round Japanese Lacquer STAND which is made from wood. The pedestal and rim are in a dark green and the interior is the typical cinnabar (red) color. Very beautifully proportioned. American Indian ACOMA polychrome olla is a work of art. As is traditional in Acoma art the jar was formed in native clay with ground pottery shard temper, has a rag-wiped white slip and a natural (no slip) interior with a red (orange) slipped underbody with a concave base. The jar is in very good condition. No apparent signs of restorations. 6.75" x 8.5" diameter. circa 1840's.

Two Japanese ARITA porcelain "Suisaka" style flower VASES with a rich underglaze colbalt blue. One is slightly larger than the other, though the shape and glaze are the same. Condition of one is excellent, no chips, cracks or fritting.The second has some "potting flaws," around the lip. Height is about 6 inches. Circa: Edo era, 17th - 18th C.
