Condition is pretty good, no cracks, some dings and bumps. Diameter at top is 10.75 inches (27.3 cms) and the height is 5 7/8 inches (14.9 cms) The diameter of the base is 6 1/8 inches or 15.7 cms. LArge BRASS BOWL (suitable for fruit) from the Indonesian Island of Java, with no design. Diameter is 10 1/8" at the rim and 5 3/4" diameter at the bottom. The height is 4 1/2". There is a "beaten metal" look to the sides with a small 1 1/2" crack near the bottom (see pix #5) which makes this bowl not suitable for liquids. Circa: 1930's.

Finely engraved with a scrolling foliate on the shoulder between an egg & dart borders; with 6 alternating cartouches of plum trees and Buddhist symbols. The walls were estimated to have been built around 850 AD. There are "native spirits," one male on the right and one female on the left where people leave small offerings of flowers and fruit. Painted by a neknown Burmese artist, Tin Aung Htaik who lives in Rangoon. SIze is 18.5 x 13.75 inches.
