Korean stoneware celadon BOWL with molded floral design in the cavetto, covered for the most part in a rich soft pale sea-green celadon glaze inside and out. Although this striking 12th Century example of Goryeo or Koryo dynasty(918-1392) celadon is in remarkable condition with no cracks or breaks or fritting or restorations, there are some less than pristine conditions that are resultant from the original firing of this piece. There is a portion (about 18% of the area) on the lower outside part of the bowl where the glaze did not adhere when it was fired. This is true of the foot rim and base as well. There is also another area where too much glaze was applied and in "ran" near the outside rim (see photos) There are also several small spots where the glaze did not adhere at all. Nonetheless, this large celadon BOWL from a private collection was exhibited in the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm Sweden (see label) #31 in 1966. Circa: 12th Century. Dimensions: Diameter is 7 15/16 inches (20cm) and Height is 3 1/2 inches (8.8 cm)
