Korean late 12thC/early 13th C. celadon BOWL with a molded lotus design. The lotus is the symbol of rebirth and purity because the lotus "grows in the muck and shows it's face to the sun!" There are a few imperfections in the glaze which are visible in the pictures, and the back of the bowl has been "misfired" Still, no chips, cracks or restorations on this 700 year old authentic example of Korean Korai celadon ware! The color of this bowl is a bit greener than the other late 12th Century Korean celadon bowl(which is grayer) and the form is a bit different as well. The color of this bowl is actually a bit green (darker) than it appears in the picture!
