Japanese Blue & White porcelain ARITA, MAP DISH with a four character mark "Tempo Nen Sei," (1830-1843) Edo period, Decorated in underglaze blue with a conceptual map of Japan bordered by labelled islands and sections of four other countries, the Land of the Dwarves, the Land of Women, the Ryukyu Kingdom and Korea, surrounded by seas and the ocean. Provenance: the Kyushu Ceramic Museum. Condition is excellent. Dimensions: 11 1/8 inches 28 cms x 9 3/4 inches wide 24.6 cm. Purchased at Christie's in London, England, May 11, 2011, Lot #124.
