| Originally made as a copper screened container for "fresh food," before the days of refrigeration, this item which demonstrates the form and function of Japanese design has been tastefully converted to a lamp with shoji paper. It's suitable either as a floor lamp or a table lamp. The hinged door makes it easy to access the light bulb which is a standard U.S. light bulb socket.(see enlargement #4)Height is 18.5 inches x 13" x 13". Circa: 1890-1920. Condition of lacquer is good and the cast metal fitting(on top) shows some oxidation as expected with an item of this age. | ||
