LARGE 14.4 inch diameter JAPANESE Blue & White porcelain BOWL from the late Edo era. This bowl which was made with the "lost-wax" method of design/glazing has a flying crane in the center surrounded with bird and floral catouches. There is a kiln mark on the back in underglaze blue. Because this bowl was made prior to the artificial German dyes; it is a rich deep colbalt blue color. There is a hairline crack which is barely discernable from the front and a small rim chip. Circa: 1820-1860. late Edo era.
