An EARTHENWARE PAIR of Japanese "Nomen" or Harvest Masks, worn after the rice harvest was collected to celebrate the bounty at a festival! Modeled similarly with bulging eyes, furrowed brows and flaring nostrils, the parinated surfaces simulating bronze. Very unusual. Circa: 19th Century.
