Rare Hinged Lacquer Tebunko Box

A rare bunko or letter or document box with hinges and a lock attached on the box, which is not found often in Japanese lacquered pieces. The lid section of the box is decorated with the few from Tago no Ura, or the bay of Tago in Shizuoka where the view of Mt. Fuji can be seen. The motif is done using carved lacquer and makie techniques.

Age: 19th century. Meiji Period.

Condition: Kept in extremely good condition for its age, no major cracks or damages can be seen on the box.
