Tea Scroll by Tofukuji Hayashi Ekyo Fukushima Keido

Meigetsu Seifu (A clear moon and pure wind) is the zen koan for the scroll presented. The scroll would be perfect for a setting with the moon or an evening in Spring or Autumn.

The scroll was inscribed by Hayashi Ekyo (1885-1979) who resided in Myoshinji and became the abbot of Tofukuji temple. The box contains an authentication by Fukushima Keido (1933-2011) who was well known within Western zen circles for his transmission of zen. Fukshima Keido became abbot of Tofukuji and taught to individuals such as Jeff Shore, Kuzan Peter Schireson and Myoan Grace Schireson, among others.
