Ohi Ware Amber glaze chawan tea bowl Ohi Toshio

Ohi Toshio (1958-) Born as the son of the noted family, Ohi Chozaemon in Kanazawa, Ishikawa prefecture. The Ohi family for generations have produced traditional Japanese tea ceramics in the preferences of tea masters from the Urasenke tradition and the lords that controlled the domain of Kaga. Additionally, the family developed new glazes and styles during the Meiji period to direct the tradition towards the new age of modernism.

The bowl is done in the traditional methods seen in producing raku wares, where an artist sculpts a bowl. Additionally, the glaze used is the signature glaze for the Ohi wares passed on to each succeeding Ohi Chozaemon.

Size: Height: 3.25" Diameter : 5"

NOTE: Should a tomobako be required, a special box can be requested from the artist. About 1 month is needed due to the artist's schedule and time to have it shipped from Japan.
