This is a beautiful antique embossed postcard depicting George Washington, the first president of the United States, serving from 1789 to 1797, sitting on his white horse reflecting his famous quote, "First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen."
This card is in excellent condition for its age dating back to early 1900. A U.S. green postage featuring Benjamin Franklin is seen on the right corner of the card along with a stamp dated February 21, 1910.
This antique postcard was printed in Germany by the International Art Publishing Co. Ltd.
In 1895 Wolf & Co. and the Art Lithographic Publishing Co. founded a subsidiary "International Art Publishing Co." to take over production of their holiday and souvenir cards. They would grow into an important publisher of artist signed cards. This publishing company was active between the years of 1895 and 1915.
