Offered is a fabulous pair of silver covered entree serving dishes by Tiffany & Co. made circa 1880. This pair consists of two serving dishes with their covers embellished with stunning repoussé artwork of floral design throughout.
Founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young in New York City in 1837, Tiffany & Co. is an American worldwide luxury jewelry and specialty retailer, headquartered in New York City. Tiffany first achieved international recognition at the 1867 Paris World’s fair. The company was awarded the grand prize for silver craftsmanship, the first time that an American design house had been so honored by a foreign jury.
Hallmarks of TIFFANY 7 CO., STERLING-SILVER, 925-1000, M, 8709 291 are visible on the reverse of both dishes. Each dish measures 4 3/4 in height and 10 3/4 inches in width (12.1 x 27.3 cm), weighing 71.6 troy ounces (2227.009 grams).
