Offered is a magnificent oil on canvas painting by the famous Belgian Flemish painter, Basile de Loose (1809-1885), featuring a father giving advice to his children and wife, in stunning finest precision and warm-toned hues. Basile de Loose was a well known Belgian artist of the 19th century who painted detailed genres scenes of families. 'Fatherly Advice' is an extremely well painted copy of the original painting titled 'Vaterlicher Ratschlag', which translated to 'Fatherly Advice'. The father sits in the center of the room surrounded by his children and wife. His two youngest children are listening intently to his lecture however his older daughter, whom he needs to get through, is too busy daydreaming. If it wasn't for the fact that this painting was unsigned, the quality is so exceptional one would assume that it was an authentic Basile de Loose painting. The markings of 'N. L. Lepke, Picture Dealer, Berlin, Prussia, 17. Unter den Linden' is visible on the back of this marvelous painting. Rudolf Lepke, was a founder of a major auction house in Berlin in 1856–57. The canvas was stretched and the painting is in excellent condition without any signs of restorations, measuring approximately 27.5 inches x 32.50 inches (70 cm x 83 cm), embellished with a magnificent original golden frame with beautiful floral decoration, measuring in total 40 inches x 44 inches (102 cm x 112 cm).
