Serene large Shan State Lacquer Buddha, 19th Century, body shows worn brown patina and hands are missing. Due to age there is evidence of wear and a minor area showing some fissure. Very unusual and attractive. Sise: H. 57 cm. x W. 32 cm. x D. 20 cm.

Smooth and serene Marble Shakyamuni Buddha subduing Mara. Robe and base are brown with some fine details and gilding. The head of the Buddha is covered with a multitude of small pointed hairlocks called "Shwebo-thorns" on top of which is the stupa shaped flame. The Buddha is clad in a nice robe showing overlapping folds and decorated bands, which also cover the right shoulder and left arm. A genuine Shan State Bronze Buddha, 17/18th Century, subduing Mara and sitting on a fine stepped throne. Front base has engraved Shan script. The Buddha is filled and heavy, not hollow. It also has an old original dark patina with traces of gilt and very few remnants of cinnabar paint. Size: Height 20.5 cm x 13 cm (8.25" x 5.25" inches). Good condition overall.

Very fine Bronze Buddha subduing Mara, Shan State, Burma, 18/19th Century, very nice brown-gold patina, on high-stepped throne, which tapers off toward the top and is a noteworthy characteristic of Shan artists, very good condition, size: H. 15.5cm x W. 7.5cm x D. 5cm, rare size/find.

Attractive Shan State Buddha seated in the Lotus Position on a stepped throne decorated with 2 layers of fine lotus-like leaves in high relief. Very fine bronze Shan State Buddha with an exquisite black-gold patina seated on a stepped throne decorated with knobs. The sculpture displays an elegant smartness and is well proportioned. The Buddha is seated in the Vajrasana position with the right hand in the gesture of touching the earth (bhumisparsa mudra) and the left hand rests in the gesture of meditation (dhyana mudra).
