Japanese Meiji Ivory Netsuke of Monk, 19th Century
A very fine Japanese ivory netsuke carving of a monk dressed in a kimono and wearing Zori sandals while beating on a Mokyugo temple bell. Intricate details of the entire figure including the soles of the sandals. Excellent condition throughout and free-standing. Meiji period (1868-1900). Size: H. 2" (5 cm.). Purchased from Christie's, Amsterdam, 2001.
