A fine Guangxu era (1875 - 1908) Da Ya Zhai motif turquoise-sepia porcelain bowl with good markings and a lobed rim. The hand painted sepia floral and black bird theme is superbly executed with fine details using graduating deep to lighter black shades on a pastel turquoise background. The interior of the bowl is turquoise. Size: 20 cm. top diameter x H. 8.5 cm. x 7.5 cm. bottom diameter. Da Ya Zhai was the studio name used by the Empress Tsu H'su (Cixi). The horizontal 3 characters read "Da Ya Zhai". The imperial oval seal next to it reads "Tian Di Yi Jia Chun" (under Heaven and Earth is one family-homily of Spring).
The four iron red character seal on the bottom of the base signifies "Yong Tsing Chang Chun" (fortune forever and long series of spring). Condition: The bowl has been repaired/glued as a piece of the top rim broke, but could definitely be expertly restored by a specialist. Furthermore, there are 2 fine hairlines.
