Fine original watercolour painted by British Orientalist Augustus Osborne Lamplough, R.W.S. (1877 - 1930), depicting the temple complex of PHILAE on the Nile, Egypt. Faint rays of the rising sun appear from the rosy dawn behind the large rock on the right. On the bank of the Nile several people and papyrus boats can be seen. Signed on lower left corner. On the right corner indistinctly inscribed "figures and boats ...on foreground of ..." Condition: very good, size: 38 cm x 49 cm. (15" x 19.3"), ca. 1911
