Original Watercolor Painting by Salomon Corrodi (1810-1892), spectacular Bay of Amalfi seen from the West showing it's sandy coast with boats as well as houses and the steep cliffs of the terrain. In the background cliffs and the road by the sea lead to the bay of Minori. In the hazy background one can also distinguish the elevation of the Golf of Salerno. Refined are the reflections of the buildings in the sea, the small human figures in the bottom/left area as well as the fishing boat of this delightful painting. Signed bottom left: S. Corrodi, Rom 1865, size L. 60 cm x H. 40 cm, condition good. Famed works by this "Vedute Italiane" artist are exhibited at Thorwalden Museum, Copenhagen, St. Petersburg, Bellvedere-Vienna, Kunstmuseum Bern and Kunsthaus Zurich, Switzerland, among others. His works are sought after by many collectors of this period and often offered at Christie's as well as Sotheby's art auctions.
