| A Russian egg pendant.Marked to the suspension loop with the 56 zolotnik gold standard and kokoshnik facing right for manufacure 1908-1917 St Petersburg.The egg decorated with guilloche enamel panels in red and oyster white with gilded stars to the centers.The gold bands highlighted with smaller square panels in Royal Blue.Condition is excellent with no damage or wear to the enamel.Size including the loop 22mm.The suspension loop is a replacement thus explaining the lack of a makers mark.Most likely made by one of the major workshops in St Petersburg at the time.For a similar example see Russian Gold & Silverwork 17th-19th Century by Alexander von Solodkoff page 118 (plate 136). | ||
