From the Holy Land, Roman glass tear bottle with golden patina "Iridescence" Nicely made in a globular body with a long cylindrical neck and a rim folded outwards Dated from, 100 - 300 AD Measurements: Height: 12.5 cm - Width: 6.5 cm. This type of bottles was popular during the Roman period all throughout the Empire, exhibiting very little variation. Used as containers for perfumes and scented oils, they were frequently placed in burial caves and are thus sometimes referred to as "TEAR BOTTLES" believed to have been used for collecting the tears of mourners!
