Rare Tasmanian colonial huon pine turned cot
Measures: 1290 cm w x 690cm d x 1030h.
Mid 19th Century.
A fine and rare example of a Tasmanian Huon Pine Cot , featuring finely turned spindles that dates this piece from the 1840's.It is one of a related number of cradles and cots that can be identified by their turnings which, probably would have been made by the same cabinetmaker,Similar spindle turnings can be seen on the sideboard on page 111 fig 101/102 in the book Early Colonial Furniture in NSW and Van Diemen's Land by Clifford Craig, also on a cradle at Runnymede,National Trust (Tas) Very few Huon pine Cots have survived.
