A fine and rare pair of lobed vases glazed in the Robins Egg or sha green glaze, Qianlong mark but late 19th or early 20th century. A large pair at 18", the vases are a one of a kind form inspired by the Yongzheng/Qianlong manganese derived glazes sometimes referred to as 'souffle' or Lu Jun. The pair here is a successful variant of those earlier glazes with a light blue green robins egg suffused with mauve or speckled undertone atop a white porcelain body. Six character Qianlong mark in underglaze blue characteristic of the 19th century.
Provenance: From the Closson family estate of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Closson art gallery and fine furnishings was internationally operated from the late 19th century to the late 1980s
